The great hero Cuchulainn was the warrior and protector Ireland. He was born from a mystical birth, fathered by the god Lug by placing him mother Deichtine womb. He was first named Setanta. As a young lad he was full of spirit and strength. He joined the young army and was the favorite of the king. He became a hero by defeating a fierce and strong dog that belonged to a man named Culann. Culann, one of the great smiths who was the favorite of the king threw a feast. The king invited Setanta to this feast. Culann had a great big hound of enormous strength and was as huge as a bear and a lion combined. As the feast started, he made his dog guard the gates of his house. When Setanta arrived, the dog attacked him. Setanta was strong and cunning and he defeated the dog with one blow. Killing the precious dog of Culann, Setanta then swears to be his replacement until a new puppy grows into an immense guard dog once more. So by this, he is renamed himself to Cúchulainn or Culann\’s Hound. He will now be the protector of Culann’s household.
He is strong and defended against enemies. He trained with the great warrior maiden Scathhach and learned how to never give up in any fight.
