The Pascal Lamb was a favoured Templar symbol of charity and chivalry, depicting the highest good that can be achieved through self- betterment.
The symbol was used in the seals of many Knights Templar, in recognition of the blessings of knowledge and wisdom. It is worn for Spiritual Knowledge and Wisdom.
The Knights Templar where chivalric knights who fought to free the Holy City of God when it went under siege. The believed that the ultimate sacrifice of their lives would be the noblest of all the causes much like Jesus gave his life to the church. After the crusades it was said that King Philip IV of France ordered the Knights Templar to be executed and even burned at the stake for heresy. This was because he did not want to pay them any compensation for the sacrifices they made in the battles. It also said that this may have been because that the Knights Templar carried with them a secret that may shatter the church.
Even though King Philip thought that he has eliminated the order, they resurfaced. Since the war is over and the time of the arts in Renaissance was born, they became patrons of medicine and culture. They now endeavoured to spread charity to others and help those who are in need. And now in the present day some order of the Free Masons affiliate themselves with the Knights Templar as the soldiers of God.
This pendant shows the Agnus Dei – the Lamb of God. In John 1:29, he says: “Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” Aside from the Christian concept, this pendant symbolizes the virtue of true sacrifice. Being able to die for the betterment of others, without hatred or folly. Much like what Buddha says that we should allow ourselves to suffer to fully understand those around us and to fully embrace life.
This pendant is a great symbol for those who wish to be more selfless and mindful. It is a great ensign for those who wish to make the world better by giving their whole spirit for a worthy cause. Wear it to gain the gentle yet strong heart of the lamb.
