More about the Cat Goddess Bast…
Bast was also the Egyptian Goddess of pleasure, music, dancing and joy, and associated with the Eye of Ra, acting as the instrument of the Sun God’s vengeance and Protector of Cats. Bast figures of cats were offered at her temple at Bubastis to receive her blessings, as mistress of music, dance, pleasure and love.
Cats in Egypt were held in the highest esteem, due to the threat to the food supply that could be caused by mice and rats, and their ability to fight and kill snakes, especially cobras. Cats were sometimes given golden jewellery to wear and were allowed to eat from the same plates as their owners. The penalties for injuring or killing one was severe. Deep respect was given to cats even after they died. Whenever a household cat died, the entire family would go through a period of grief, shaving their eyebrows to mark their sadness. Consequently Bast was strongly revered as the patron of cats. and thus it was in the temple at Per-Bast that cats were buried and mummified.
Wearing a pendant or talisman frequently allows it to absorb some of your aura – the more you wear this pendant the stronger its powers will become. You can even hold the cat to your heart chakra while you meditate. Like the ancient cat figures offered to Bast, this pendant can help you to gain love, pleasure and happiness.
